On Saturday, October 20th, Judge Edward Rodgers passed away. Judge Rodgers was 91 years old. He was truly a great leader, a voice for those in need, a great friend of the Urban League of Palm Beach County and most of all a good man. Judge Rodgers was here in the beginning in the early 70’s advocating and establishing the need for an Urban League affiliate here in Palm Beach County. He was my first honoree to receive the ULPBC Lifetime Achievement Award at the EOD Gala in December 2002. Judge Rodgers was always engaged with so many throughout Palm Beach County. He was a trailblazer on many fronts but will be always remembered as the first black Judge in Palm Beach County. Finally, Judge Rodgers gave the final donation of $10,000 last year to initiate the endowment fund with the Community Foundation for the Urban League of Palm Beach County. A true servant leader for the people he served and all those in need. Rest in Peace, job well done!
